An epic saga of the Light Side, the Dark Side, and HTML email.

a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
The fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy
It is a period of galactic civil war. Email clients are fractured and render HTML in over a dozen different ways. Developers rebel against Imperial tyrany and fight to bring order and a consistent user experience to the inbox.
Determined forces
break through Imperial blockades and table boundaries with illusions of color and shape.
Luke
Using the power of nested tables and conditional code...
Leia
...these freedom fighters bring solid responsive design to users...
Han
...from the masses in the Core Worlds to the edge cases in the Outer Rim.
Vader
But

the
Dark Side

still threatens to choke creativity with iron-fisted email preprocessors that intercept crucial segments of code and merciless word-processing rendering engines that ignore common styles like max-width.
BALANCE
of the
FORCE
can be attained, even in Gmail without media query support, with fluid design using well-placed divs, tables, and flexible containers.
No matter how you resize it.
Harpoons and Tow Cables
when that armor is too strong for blasters.
And
progressive enhancement
when clients support animated gifs and text shadows.
